ReStore – General Help Personnel 

Purpose: To carry out the stated purpose of the ReStore and Habitat for Humanity PEI.  The General Help Personnel Volunteers provide assistance in the ReStore with housekeeping duties, customer service, material pick up and merchandise repairs. The funds generated by the ReStore help Habitat for Humanity to reach its vision of eradicating substandard housing.

Responsible to: The ReStore Manager

Time Commitment: Minimum 4 hours per week.

Hours of Operation – Monday-Saturday 9am to 5 pm

Location: HFH PEI Charlotetown ReStore – 365 Mt Edward RD, Charlottetown PE

Position Duties:

  • Provide customer service
  • Provide help with general housekeeping tasks
  • Repair damaged merchandise
  • Assemble merchandise

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Understanding of the Habitat for Humanity philosophy and the desire to promote it
  • Previous experience working in retail is an asset but not mandatory
  • Previous carpentry experience is an asset but not mandatory
  • Ability to work with a team or independently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with customers, HFH PEI staff members and volunteers
  • Ability to lift and unload heavy items

ReStore – Receiving Personnel 

Purpose: To carry out the stated purpose of the ReStore and Habitat for Humanity PEI.  The Receiving Personnel Volunteers provide assistance to the ReStore with back shop operations and receiving. The funds generated by the ReStore help Habitat for Humanity to reach its vision of eradicating substandard housing.

Responsible to: The ReStore Manager

Time Commitment: Minimum 4 hours per week.

Hours of Operation – Monday-Friday 9 am to 5 pm and Saturday 9 a.m. to 2 pm

Location: HFH PEI Charlottetown ReStore – 365 Mt Edward Rd Charlottetown PEI

Position Duties:

  • Loading and offloading items from the truck
  • Performing minor repairs, cleaning and testing appliances
  • Price merchandise for resale
  • Able to lift heavy objects

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Understanding of the Habitat for Humanity philosophy and the desire to promote it
  • Previous experience working in retail, receiving or labor is an asset but not mandatory
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work with a team or independently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with customers, HFH PEI staff members and volunteers
  • Detail oriented
  • Friendly, approachable and outgoing

ReStore – Cash and Customer Service 

Purpose: To carry out the stated purpose of the ReStore and Habitat for Humanity PEI.  The Cash and Pricing Personnel Volunteers provide assistance to the ReStore with front line operations. The funds generated by the ReStore help Habitat for Humanity to reach its vision of eradicating substandard housing.

Responsible to: The ReStore Manager

Time Commitment: Minimum 4 hours per week.

Hours of Operation – Monday-Friday 9 am to 5 pm and Saturday 9 a.m. to 2 pm

Location: HFH PEI Charlottetown ReStore – 365 Mt Edward Rd Charlottetown PEI

Position Duties:

  • Provide customer service
  • Perform cash and credit transactions
  • Price merchandise for resale
  • Assist in answering phone calls
  • Assist in conducting marketing surveys with customers
  • Merchandising product
  • Labelling product

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Understanding of the Habitat for Humanity philosophy and the desire to promote it
  • Previous experience working in retail is an asset but not mandatory
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work with a team or independently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with customers, HFH PEI staff members and volunteers
  • Detail oriented
  • Friendly, approachable and outgoing
