Family story as told by Taleb, Husband and Father of three.
“This is our story
As a father, I have witnessed my family endure the unimaginable. We are a family of five, with two sons and a daughter. Our lives were forever altered by the horrors of the Syrian war, as we lost everything we owned in our home country. It was a time of indescribable suffering and uncertainty.
But amidst the darkness, a flicker of hope emerged when we were given the chance to start anew. In 2017, we made the arduous journey to Prince Edward Island, Canada, where we found solace and were sponsored by the compassionate Sisters of Saint Martrha. Their support provided us with the foundation we needed to rebuild our shattered lives.
Establishing a new life in our adopted home was no easy feat. We faced countless challenges and hurdles, but with unwavering determination, we forged ahead. I worked tirelessly, taking on any job I could find to provide for my beloved family. My wife, a pillar of strength, stood by my side, supporting me in every way possible.
Prince Edward Island became our sanctuary—a place where we could create a stable and promising future for our children. However, despite the relative safety we now enjoyed, our hearts ached for the sense of permanence that comes with having a place to truly call home.
That longing was answered when Habitat PEI chose us to receive a newly constructed house. The significance of this opportunity cannot be overstated. For someone who has escaped the horrors of war, a home represents more than mere physical shelter. It symbolizes safety, stability, and the chance for our children to grow and thrive without fear.
Every night, as I gaze at the stars, I imagine my children running through the rooms of our future home, their laughter filling the air. I envision my wife’s radiant smile as she prepares meals in our very own kitchen, and I feel a renewed sense of hope and gratitude.
This chance to have a home built by Habitat PEI is a gift beyond measure. It is a beacon of light, guiding us toward a brighter future. It speaks to the kindness and compassion that still exists in this world, reminding us that even after enduring unimaginable loss, we are not alone.
Home is more than just bricks and mortar; it is the embodiment of security and stability. It provides a sanctuary where we can heal from the wounds of the past and dream of a better tomorrow. Our new home will be a testament to our resilience—a place where we can rebuild our lives and create lasting memories as a family.
With each passing day, the excitement and anticipation grow. We eagerly await the moment we can step through the threshold of our new home, knowing that it will be a sanctuary of love and warmth. Habitat PEI has granted us a priceless opportunity, and we will forever be grateful for the chance to provide our children with the stability and bright future they deserve.
The road we have traveled has been arduous, but it has also shown us the strength and resilience we possess as a family. Together, we have overcome the darkest of times, and now, with the gift of a new home, we can truly begin to flourish.
