“Please welcome our newest Habitat homeowners to Georgetown. They have worked hard to overcome challenges and achieve their goals. Through their commitment to bettering themselves and the lives of their children, with their genuine efforts and work ethic, they have demonstrated their dedication to Habitat for Humanity PEI. We are excited to welcome these two families to Habitat for Humanity PEI, and we look forward to supporting them along this journey of affordable homeownership.” Bev Beaton, Habitat PEI Homeowner Services manager
Habitat PEI homeowners are working permanent residents of our Island communities, in need of safe and suitable affordable housing. Habitat PEI homeowners are able to pay an affordable mortgage and are committed to partnering with Habitat PEI to contribute 500 volunteer hours toward their home and community.
Since 2019, the Government of Canada has made a total funding commitment of $780,000 through the Affordable Housing Fund under the National Housing Strategy towards Habitat PEI projects, including these homes.
“Our Government is committed to helping communities develop local solutions to housing need and homelessness. Our partnership with Habitat for Humanity helps to provide more safe, affordable homes for families in Georgetown, and PEI. It’s also another step forward in building an economy that serves everyone.” Kent Macdonald, Member of Parliament for Cardigan
